The Magenta Project was created by GoogleAI as a platform for artists of various fields to connect and create using AI systems. There are many different types of systems, one of which is the Sketch RNN. When an artist creates an image via the given prompt, in this case, “Draw any shape.” and the computer system completed the image for the artist with the prompt/model “Draw a face”. The results pass by very quickly, but the viewer and artist can see many different interpretations of their “shape” as is is transformed by the AI system.
Through this demonstration and testing of the system, it can be understood that this form of art is an expression of how art and understanding of a prompt is ever changing and developing as time goes by. One person may interpret “draw a shape” as a “standard shape” (circle, square, triangle, etc.) or as an abstract shape. From there you can also see the form that is created as many possibilities that can grow and change as you work out a solution. This work can also be understood as the growing dependance on computers and systems telling society what to do. This system tells the user to draw something and in turn, the system finishes the work for the user. The user is being controlled by what the system tells it to do although it could be possible to rebel from the system, but it will still respond to your act of drawing anything.
Model/Response: “Drawing Face”
